The Senate held a meeting chaired by Maulen Ashimbayev, where the senators considered and adopted two laws – “On ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Agreement dated October 10, 2014, on accession of the Republic of Armenia to the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty dated May 29, 2014” and “On ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Protocol on Conditions and Transitional Provisions on the Application by the Kyrgyz Republic of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty dated May 29, 2014, certain international treaties included in the law of the Eurasian Economic Union, and acts of the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union in connection with the accession of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty dated May 29, 2014, dated May 8, 2015”.

These Laws are aimed at ensuring the phased integration of customs duties in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan to the rates of the EAEU Common Customs Tariff. In this regard, the transition period for both states is extended by 1 year until the full implementation of the EAEU tariff for the most sensitive goods.

“The Laws adopted today cover the sphere of customs and tariff regulation on the list of a number of goods imported into the territory of Kyrgyzstan and Armenia from third countries. In particular, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia requested to extend by one year the temporary benefits provided by the Eurasian Economic Union due to the social and economic situation. The requests were supported at the proper level. In general, these Laws will have a positive impact on strengthening of the partnership and cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union,” Maulen Ashimbayev said.

During the meeting, the senators presented their deputy inquiries. Thus, Akhylbek Kurishbayev raised a number of problems in the field of seed production and breeding science. And Alimzhan Kurtayev mentioned the problems of the South-North resettlement program implementation.
