Senators will consider a bill to enhance the social protection of citizens

A meeting of the Bureau was held under the chairmanship of Maulen Ashimbayev, Speaker of the House, at which deputies adopted the agenda for the Senate session scheduled for September 16, 2021.

On Thursday, senators will consider the bill “On Making Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Social Protection of Certain Categories of Citizens”. The bill is aimed at protecting the rights and improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in our country, increasing the amount of state social allowances, improving the pension provision, employment of the population, and social insurance.

In particular, the bill envisages the introduction of allowances to persons who care for persons with disabilities of group 1, in the amount of 1.40 of the minimum subsistence level, as well as an increase in the amount of allowances for all groups of children with special needs is planned. Furthermore, the bill prescribes the norms simplifying the procedures for registering the unemployed at the labor exchange, obtaining the status of an unemployed person, and the corresponding allowance.

In the course of the Bureau meeting, it was also suggested to put the issue of taking the oath of office by Senate deputy Serikbai Trumov and his election to the Standing Committee of the Senate on the agenda of the House meeting.

Additionally, the bill “On Ratification of the Protocol on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context to the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea”, which came earlier from the Mazhilis, was passed to the Senate Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management and Rural Development during the meeting of the Bureau.
