At an extended session of the Senate Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management and Rural Development, deputies discussed the bill “On Ratification of the Protocol on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context to the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea”.

“The main objective of the bill stands for effective and open procedures for environmental impact assessment in the transboundary context of the planned activities, which may have a substantial transboundary impact on the marine environment and land in proximity to the sea,” Senator Abdaly Nuraliyev said in the course of the session.

The ratification of the Protocol will allow adopting legislative and administrative measures on the assessment and impact on the environment and ensure effective public involvement in this procedure, starting from the initial stage.

At the end of the Committee meeting, senators resolved to pass this bill to the House for consideration.
