07.10.2021 497

Today, a session of the House took place under the chairmanship of Speaker of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev. During the session, senators ratified the Agreement on the activities of the Armed Forces of the CIS member countries.

In particular, the Law “On Ratification of the Agreement on the Joint Humanitarian Demining Engineering Unit of the Armed Forces of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States” was considered and passed.

The interaction of the states in the sphere of humanitarian demining constitutes a major aspect of military cooperation. The document establishes the procedure for the formation, use, and completion of the activities of the Joint Unit, which will deal with technical reconnaissance of minefields and their demining. It is noteworthy that the agreement was signed with a reservation stating that our country will consider deploying a national engineering unit to the territory of a third state, which is not a CIS member, under the mandate of the UN Security Council.

Also, at the session, senators adopted the Law “On Ratification of the Agreement on the Joint (United) Communications System of the Armed Forces of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States”.

Senators believe that unification of efforts to ensure guaranteed and effective operation of communications systems is a crucial component of the technical basis of management in the Armed Forces of the CIS member states.

“The two laws, enacted today, aim to regulate certain issues of cooperation in the field of security between the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. These Agreements will be part of the treaties that provide peace and security, approved within the CIS,” Maulen Ashimbayev commented on the adoption of these documents.
