The Senate Committee on Economic Policy, Innovation Development and Entrepreneurship held an extended meeting where deputies discussed the bill “On Making Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Public Procurement, Procurement of Subsoil Users and Natural Monopoly Entities, Communications, Road Transport and Defense”.
The bill proposes to carry out public procurement from single source only in exceptional cases. The document also envisages intensification of accountability, in particular, the customer’s chief executive must be personally responsible for the conduct of such purchases.
After discussing these and several other innovations of the bill, the Committee deputies decided to pass the document to the House for consideration on second reading.
