The Bureau members were familiarized with the assessment of these events, as well as with the key priorities of the country in the socio-economic and socio-political spheres for the coming period, outlined by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during speeches in the lower house of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and before representatives of domestic business.

Special emphasis was placed on the strategic reforms of the Head of State in the direction of further democratization, restoration of social justice in society, reformatting the work of law enforcement agencies in order to effectively protect citizens, the constitutional system and sovereignty.

The Bureau members approved the proposal to hold an online briefing on the events in Kazakhstan for the deputies of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in February.

The European deputies expressed their condolences and support to Kazakhstan in connection with the tragic events that caused numerous human casualties, noting the importance of conducting an objective investigation, the results of which should be presented to the international community.

Askar Shakirov invited representatives of the OSCE PA to visit Kazakhstan, during which parliamentarians could get acquainted with the situation in the country and discuss relevant issues.
