Deputies of the Senate Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management and Rural Development discussed the bill “On ratification of the Agreement on the Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Waste through the Customs Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union” at an expanded meeting.
The Agreement is aimed at regularization of relations associated with transboundary movement of hazardous waste through the customs territory of the EAEU in carrying out mutual trade of the EAEU member states, as well as ensuring the authorization-based procedure of transboundary movement of hazardous waste in the EAEU.
According to senators, the adoption of the bill will help to establish a uniform procedure for the movement of hazardous waste between the EAEU member states, to ensure cooperation in terms of exchange of information on the conclusions issued and violations identified during such transportation through the customs territory of the EAEU, to provide environmentally sound disposal and recycling of waste for the prevention of environmental pollution.
At the end of the discussion, the bill was decided to be submitted to the House for consideration.
