Senators discussed changes to the Constitution with students of Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University

As part of a working visit to Turkestan Region, members of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ali Bektaev and Alimzhan Kurtaev visited Turkestan city and met with faculty members and students of the Akhmet Yassawi  International Kazakh-Turkish University.

The meeting discussed the importance of supporting the Referendum and the formation of an open society.

"As part of the Referendum, it is planned to amend 33 articles of the Constitution of Kazakhstan. In particular, land and its resources are declared the property of the People. The state owns the land on behalf of the people. In addition, judges of the Constitutional, Supreme and other courts are prohibited from being members and chairmen of the Central Election Commission. Military servicemen, national security and law enforcement officials are prohibited from joining political parties, registering with trade unions and participating in political party propaganda," said Senator Ali Bektayev.

The deputies also familiarized themselves with the life of the University, its material and technical base, listened to the proposals and wishes of employees and students of the University
