Interparliamentary cooperation between Kazakhstan and Canada discussed in the Senate

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship Dauren Adilbekov met with a delegation from Canada headed by Stéphane Dion, Special Envoy of the Canadian Prime Minister for EU and Europe. The meeting was also attended by members of the Parliament of Canada Victor Oh and Jean-Guy Dagenais who are members of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Group between our countries.

Dauren Adilbekov noted during the meeting that a trust-based dialogue has been established between Kazakhstan and Canada at the highest level, favorable conditions have been provided for the development of trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

"An important part of Kazakhstani-Canadian relations is inter-parliamentary cooperation. Our deputies maintain contacts both bilaterally and within the framework of international parliamentary organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and others. Nevertheless, we believe that the potential for inter-parliamentary cooperation is still very great. We hope that your visit today will lay a good basis for an intensified dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries," the Deputy noted.

Members of Canadian delegation also noted the importance of further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing that for 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries, Kazakhstan has shown itself as a reliable political and economic partner.
