The Senate gave its consent to the appointment of the Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Senate of the Parliament at a meeting chaired by Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev considered the issue of consent to the appointment by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"On November 26, the Inauguration of the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev took place. In accordance with the constitutional law, when a newly elected President assumes office, the powers of the heads of state bodies directly subordinate and accountable to the Head of State are terminated. This provision also applies to the Chairman of the National Security Committee. Under the Constitution, the Senate of the Parliament agrees to the appointment by the President of the country of the Chairman of the National Security Committee. In this regard, the President introduced a proposal for the Senate to approve the appointment of the Chairman of the National Security Committee," said Maulen Ashimbayev.

The President's recommendation to give his consent to the appointment of Yermek Sagimbayev as Chairman of the National Security Committee was read out by Gizat Nurdauletov, Assistant to the President and Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Security Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed, the candidate proposed by the Head of State was considered and discussed at the meeting of the Committee, the result of which was the decision to recommend the Senate to support the proposed candidate.

During the consideration of the issue the Senate decided to consent to the appointment by the Head of State of Yermek Sagimbayev as Chairman of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan.
