Deputies of the Senate Committee on Social and Cultural Development and Science discussed the draft Social Code and accompanying bills “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on social security issues”, “On amendments to some constitutional laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, and “On introducing amendments to the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses”.

In accordance with the information announced at the enlarged meeting, the Social Code is aimed at improving the well-being of citizens, as well as reorienting the system towards preventive measures and the prevention of social risks. To do this, the document reflects such areas as: social support for families with children; measures to promote employment of the population; targeted social assistance to families with incomes below the poverty line; social protection of people with disabilities and others.

The task of the bills accompanying the Code is to update and reform the regulatory legal framework in this area. The implementation of the above provisions requires the simultaneous introduction of amendments and additions to 9 Codes and 41 Laws. In addition, a number of documents provide for changes in reference norms to legislation on pensions, on compulsory social insurance, on special public services, etc.
