Senators discussed the ratification of the agreement on assistance in handling radiological emergencies

19.01.2021 426

Deputies of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security discussed the document, whereby the country is guaranteed assistance from other member states to the Agreement in the event of a nuclear accident or radiological emergency, as well as assistance in managing their consequences.

The ratification of the Agreement envisages the provision of assistance to the country where a nuclear accident or radiological emergency took place. The purpose of the Agreement is to minimize the consequences of accidents, protect public health, property, as well as the environment from the impact of radioactive emissions.

Doing this will enable the CIS states to interact expeditiously and respond swiftly to any potential incidents arising from the peaceful use of atomic energy.
