The first joint meeting of the Kazakhstan - Brazil Friendship Groups of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Senate of the National Congress of the Federative Republic of Brazil took place.

Senator Dauren Adilbekov welcomed colleagues and noted that Kazakhstan sees Brazil as a major trading partner in Latin America and the Caribbean. He also stressed that relations between Kazakhstan and Brazil began in 2007.

“To expand and develop business contacts and mutually beneficial cooperation between entrepreneurs, the Kazakhstan-Brazilian Business Council, which will become a reliable platform and unite leading companies of the two countries, was created this year under the auspices of the Kazakhstan Industry and Export Center and the National Confederation of Industry of Brazil. I also believe that now we should continue our bilateral cooperation, now in the framework of inter-parliamentary relations. The Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan stands ready to assist in the establishment and further development of the inter-parliamentary dialogue with Brazilian colleagues,” Dauren Adilbekov said.

In his turn, deputy Akhylbek Kurishbayev noted that our countries are united not only by economic cooperation, but also by the presence of large territories that are used for agricultural land.

The participants also talked about the matters of legal support, criminal legislation, democratic reforms, gender policy, and identified the areas for bilateral interaction and cooperation.
